What BuildRated Is
BuildRated is an evidence-based contractor reputation platform for governed environments — homeowners associations, community associations, and property management organizations that require accountability when selecting service providers.
Every contractor profile on BuildRated is built from verifiable data: state licensing records, insurance verification, bond status, and where available, real payment history from the CommunityPay platform. No contractor can buy their way to a higher score.
How Scoring Works
BuildRated scores are computed from up to 18 distinct evidence signals across six categories. Each signal is weighted based on its reliability and relevance to contractor trustworthiness.
Data Sources
Washington State Department of Labor & Industries — License status, contractor class, specialty codes, registered business information, bond and insurance verification.
CommunityPay Platform — For contractors that have performed work for CommunityPay-managed organizations: payment history, on-time rates, dispute records, and verified reviews tied to completed work.
Public Records — Business registrations, court records, and other publicly available compliance data.
What We're Not
Contractors cannot pay to rank higher. Visibility is determined by evidence, not advertising spend.
BuildRated does not collect referral fees from contractors. We are not a lead generation service.
Verified reviews are tied to real payments processed through CommunityPay. Public reviews are flagged separately.
BuildRated provides data to inform decisions. Always verify credentials independently before hiring.
For Contractors
BuildRated profiles are created from public records. If you are a licensed contractor in Washington State, your business may already have a profile. You can search for your profile and claim it to ensure your information is accurate and current.
Claiming a profile is free. BuildRated does not charge contractors for listing, placement, or profile management.
Operated by CommunityPay
BuildRated is built and operated by CommunityPay, a financial infrastructure platform for community associations. The proprietary payment and compliance data that powers BuildRated's scoring comes from CommunityPay's ledger — real transactions, not surveys. Verified reviews on BuildRated are tied to completed work and actual payments processed through the platform, ensuring every review reflects a genuine customer experience.
